Here at Hanalei Surf School, we offer both private and group surf lessons for all ages and skill levels. Our group surf lessons in Hanalei Bay are perfect for couples and families who want to surf Kauai’s beautiful waves. These private and small group surfing classes are ideal for first-time surfers of all ages! Each surf lesson lasts 90 minutes and can accommodate groups of 1-4 people. If you have a party of more than 4 surfers, please contact us to set up a custom booking.

What to Expect During Your Surfing Lesson

We offer morning and afternoon surf lessons in Kauai. Our surf lessons are offered daily at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Each lesson lasts 90 minutes.

All-Inclusive Surf Lessons

Our individual and group surf lessons are all inclusive. No rentals required! Every surf lesson includes:

• Soft top surfboard with a leash (for hardboard or epoxy surfboard, please inquire)
• A protective rash guard
• 15-30 minutes of beach practice covering safety and techniques, paddling, catching waves, standing up, turning the surfboard, how to read currents, and surf etiquette
• 60+ minutes in the water with a professional surf instructor

Cancellation Policy

Please be advised that we have a strict 48-hour cancellation policy. Our time slots are limited and in high-demand. Our surf lessons commence rain or shine. On the rare occurrence of unsafe or poor surfing conditions, we will gladly refund or reschedule your lesson.
